Large Tree

Large Tree places itself on an evil King and increases it 1/1 each turn it remains. Let's say I have Large Tree on King of Tyrus, who negates all Characters and Enhancements. Even though Large Tree is attached to King of Tyrus, the increase occurs during the Upkeep Phase. If it is negated, do all of those increases suddenly vanish?

King of Tyrus is not a King that it can be placed on.

Why is that? Large Tree never specifies that the target must be Human, merely a King. King of Tyrus, aside from its very name, is listed as a King in the REG and can therefore be targeted by Large Tree. Where's the problem here? Just because he's the game's only Demon King doesn't stop him from being a King.

It has been Ruled that King of Tyrus is a King, and he is therefore a legitimate target of Large Tree.  The Ruling is here:

After a long discussion, Rob and the playtest group have decided that at this point the following definitions will be used regarding "kings" and "royalty."

King:
1. A human King, Tetrarch or Pharaoh, or a demon with "King" in the title. (Emperors are not kings.)

Royalty
1. A human member of a royal family.

This means King of Tyrus is a "king" but is not royalty as only humans are considered royalty and have royal families.

Obviously we reserve the right to revisit this if necessary. Thanks for your patience!

Thank you, Korunks.

So back to the actual question: is the increase lasting, or does the negate erase it?

That is a good question, Since abilities like the increase update before the battle phase, they would be CBN since abilities completed in a prior phase cannot be negated in a later phase.  I am 80% confident in this ruling :)

By the way, for anyone looking at this post in the future, I misspoke when I said that King of Tyrus is the only Demon King in the game. There are two others: The Goat with Horn and The Ram with Two Horns.

The demons have to have 'King' in the title in order to satisfy Large Tree's condition.

The demons have to have 'King' in the title in order to satisfy Large Tree's condition.

That is almost the definition in the REG, however, the cards mentioned are specifically mentioned in their verses and in the REG to be kings:

Quote from: The REG 2.0
King
A King in Redemption is a character with the title King in its name, and in most cases is defined
as a male monarch of a physical Kingdom. Demons with the title of King are also considered
kings
, though they are not considered royalty or members of a royal family.
The following Redemption® cards are considered kings:
(Evil): Abimelech (RA2), Ahab (BL), Ahab (BU), Ahab (CL), Ahab (CU), Ahab (L), Ahab (UL),
Ahaziah (Pr), Antiochus IV Epiphanes (RA), Archelaus (Ap), Archelaus (Di), Belshazzar (Pr),
Bera, King of Sodom (Pa), Herod Agrippa I (Ap), Herod Agrippa I (G), Herod Agrippa II (Ap),
Herod Agrippa II (TP), Herod the Great (Ap), Herod the Great (Di), King Abijah (Ki), King
Abijam (XXVI), King Ahab (RA2), King Ahaz (Ki), King Ahaz (TP), King Ahaziah (Ki), King
Amon (Di), King Amon (Ki), King Asnappar (FF), King Basha (Ki), King Belshazzar (FF2), King
Ben-Hadad I (Ki), King Cushan-Rishathaim (FF), King Elah (Ki), King Evil-merodach (Pi), King
Hazael (RA), King Hoshea (Ki), King Jehoahaz (Israel) (Ki), King Jehoahaz (Judah) (Ki), King
Jehoash (RA2), King Jehoash (Ki), King Jehoiakim (Ki), King Jehoiakin (Ki), King Jehoram
(Ki), King Jehu (Ki), King Jeroboam I (Ki), King Jeroboam II (Ki), King Joram (Ki), King
Manasseh (Di), King Menahem (Ki), King Merodach-baladan (Pi), King Nadab (Ki), King of
Tyrus (Pi)
, King of Tyrus (Wa), King Omri (Ki), King Pekah (Ki), King Pekahiah (Ki), King
Rehoboam (Di), King Rehoboam (Ki), King Rezin (Ki), King Sargon II (Pi), King Saul (Ki), King
Saul (Wa), King Sennacherib (Ki), King Shallum (Ki), King Shalmaneser V (Ki), King Shishak
(Ki), King So (Ki), King Tiglath-Pileser III (Ki), King Zechariah (Ki), King Zedekiah (Ki), King
Zimri (Ki), Manasseh (Pr), Nebuchadnezzar (TP), Pharaoh (AL), Pharaoh (AU), Pharaoh
(DL), Pharaoh (DU), Pharaoh (H), Pharaoh (L), Pharaoh (UL), Pharaoh Hophra (Pi), Pharaoh
Neco (Ki), Shobach (P), The Dreaming Pharaoh (FF2), The Goat with Horn (Di), and The
Ram with Two Horns (Di)

Bolded all demons, two of which Luxumbra mentioned.  The Goat with Horn has a reference from Daniel 8:21, which reads "And the rough goat is the king of Greccia, and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king," and The Ram with Two Horns is from Daniel 8:20 which reads "The ram thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia."  So they are actually referred to as kings, and the REG never says it has to be in the name of the card, just that they have to have the title of 'king'.  These three demons all meet that condition.

Ah, news to me. Good catch.

Me too, I had always operated under your assumption (and was ready to pull the information from the REG as well).  Not that it's going to affect many games...those cards, I mean...
