KotW Q

If I have a magician with Magic Charms placed on him, can I discard it from the magician if he's in KotW? Or would the protect from effect ability not allow it?

Kingdoms of the World (Pi)

Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Evil Characters here are protected from effect, and may be removed during holder’s preparation phase only. While an Evil Character is here, protect holder from being forced to block with another player’s character.

• Play As: Protect contents from harm or effect. Place or return Evil Characters during your Preparation Phase. While an Evil Character is here, restrict opponents from using choose the blocker abilities. Kingdoms of the World may hold up to 3 of your Evil Characters. • Identifiers: Play to territory. • Verse: Luke 4:6 • Availability: Priests booster packs (Uncommon)

Magic Charms (TP)

Type: Artifact • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect your Magicians from capture and conversion. You may discard this card from your Magician during battle to capture up to two human Heroes.

Also, the Play-as on KotW seems kind of misleading. You're not restricted from using all CTB abilities; you can still choose your opponent's evil character to block, just not your own. It also says it can hold up to 3 of your ecs in the Play-as. You can put opponents' ecs in there, right? They don't have to be yours...

Yes you may.

Cool. That's what I thought at first, but then I started confusing myself with my following thoughts:

The magician is protected from the effect of MC while in KotW, but when MC is discarded it's removing the protection that the magician was protected from, which is an effect. So, MC shouldn't be able to be discarded because it would have an effect on the magician by removing the protection that he's protected from while under the protection of KotW. Basically I confused myself with "invisible cause/effect" reasoning and came to the conclusion that both options are possible, which was terribly confusing.

Thanks for a simple yes/no answer! :)

protected from effect has not been clearly defined. if an ongoing ability targets and then tries to resolve after the character is in Kingdoms, why does it work if protected?
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!
