Another question about complainers. Do they work as a Hero?  ???

Based on the new rulings of special initiative, only the new Hero can interrupt his ability.

Alright cuz we just flipped a coin on it I mean it didn't make much of a difference but its something we wanted to know for future reference

That's probably a good idea. If it's good enough for the NFL, it's good enough for Redemption.  ;)

No. Abilities on Evil characters that specifically target Heroes do not convert with a converted EC.

what about abilities that dont target heroes, but are still evil. Like what if philistine armor bearer was converted, could you still exchange him with a philistine for a rescue attempt

No. In addition to abilities that target Heroes being unable to convert, abilities that would result in situations that don't work in the game (such as a an EC being on the Hero's side of the battle, etc.) Since PAB specifies that he searches for an evil Philistine (and cannot thus exchange for one of the Hero Philistines--Ittai or Obed-Edom the Gittite) then his ability won't work as a Hero. Similarly, ECs that say they can band to Evil Characters (like Gomer, Lot's Wife, etc) will not work either.

The scenario that mr. Kenesen is talking about was my opponent sent in Joseph and I sent in complainers to push him back and send in a hero with 7/7 causing me to have initiative.  I was going to play plot and to obviously nuke Joseph,  another character and the rescuing hero for a cbn block. My opponent had Joseph before pharaoh

"If used by a son of Jacob, negate opponents evil or neutral card. If it's a human, capture it to opponents land of bondage. Otherwise, put it beneath deck"

So I guess the question is at what point does complainers pass initiative,  the push or the pull?

Here is the wording on Special Initiative currently:

When you are losing the battle by removal, you are granted special initiative to play an Enhancement that will interrupt or negate the card that is causing your charact’s removal. You are considered to be losing by removal when an opponent’s special ability, or a game rule that has been triggered by an opponent’s special ability, would leave you with no character in battle when the special ability has completed.

Complainers do not leave a situation where no character would be on the rescuing side of the battle, so there is no SI at all.  If you selected a larger character, like you did, and the regular initiative would pass to Complainers, then you would indeed have initiative to play Plot (pending any dom smackdown he may receive first ;)).  They could not play any enhancements in that situation until you played first.  Also, since you negated all heroes, you negated Joseph's SA and made him no longer protected from Plot, meaning the intent of your play was all legal.

In short: You can do all that mean nasty stuff, it works exactly how you described in your first paragraph :)

The ability completes and the new hero enters battle and completes its abilities. At that time, you would calculate initative based on the current state of the battle. If your Complainers is winning by numbers, then the opponent would not immediately get intiative to negate his ability.

in a side note, in the situation described, wouldn't Joseph still be protected from discard in this situation?
*never mind this dumb question as Complainers would negate Joe

Awesome you guys, this makes perfect sense. So complainers wouldn't pass SI but enchanter will?

Correct, as long as there was not another hero in battle that would give Enchanter initiative still.
