Peter's Curse
« on: February 26, 2011, 09:46:23 PM »

I have two questions about Peter's Curse (a Curse card, "Place on a Hero or good Fortress: Negate that card's special ability. When you play a good Dominant, discard this Curse. Cannot be negated.")

1. How exactly is it used if you play the card as an Artifact rather than an enhancement? Do I first put it face up on the artifact pile? Can I leave it there as long as I want, as my active Artifact? Then can I (at any time) "target" it by placing it on a Hero or Good Fortress? Or must I bypass the Artifact pile and go straight to the targeted Hero or Good Fortress? (If so, doesn't that make it the same as a Territory Enhancement rather than a Curse?)

2. If I use Peter's Curse to negate Storehouse, what happens to all the enhancements stored in Storehouse? Are they discarded, or returned to the owner's hand?

Thank you, but I am still not clear on how the card works when played as an artifact. (I thought that's what a Curse is - can be played as an Enhancement or as an Artifact.)

Yea, figured Id let someone else answer this one. My guess is that the place ability activates when you activate the artifact.

It's special ability (to place on a hero/fortress) activates when you activate the Curse.

1. You can leave the Curse up in your artifact pile, but it won't do anything. At the time you activate it, you can place it, and it does count for your Artifact activation for that phase.

2. When Storehouse is Negated, no cards can go into or out of it. They just sit there until either the negation ends or some other mechanism moves them elsewhere (such as ANB).
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

It doesnt say that you may place- does that matter and why?

I don't think you can leave it active.  Once it activates, it's placed, because there's no "may."

Correct. When you activate Peter's Curse, you must place it on a Hero or Good Fortress then, the only exception being when there are no legal targets available. In that case, I would assume it sits there until a legal target becomes available or it is deactivated.

I agree with all who said that you must use it right away because you cannot activate an artifact and choose not to use the ability unless it is a "may" or it is negated or there is no target.

It seems kinda silly for it to have numbers then. If you play it in battle, that means a hero is in play, and theres no optional ability, meaning it must be placed.

I thought of that too, but its CBN.

There is absolutely no time you could play that card and use its numbers.

Can you be protected from having cards placed on you? I could see placed cards working while Thadd is in battle, but the cards would be protected from their abilities (Except Peters Curse, as you cant protect from a negate except with CBN.)

No. Place cards target the cards they are placed on. So I guess the only reason the numbers will take effect is when the only Heroes in play are immune to or protected from the EC that uses it.

In which case the numbers still wouldn't really matter, except maybe for your EC to not be dying.

The numbers on Peter's Curse are mostly just symbolic of how Peter denied Christ 3 times.

Could you really let it sit there until a legal target becomes available? If so, then suppose a legal target eventually becomes available. When could you place (i.e., move from the artifact pile to the target) Peter's Curse? Only during my artifact activation phase?
