Title: King Manasseh
Post by: ChristianSoldier on April 06, 2011, 10:11:16 PM
Am I right about how this would work?

I have Gates of Jerusalem and a couple of human evil characters in my territory.  My opponent starts a rescue attempt with one character and I block with Manasseh who has 2KHorses.  I return the hero then I get to Draw 2 (2Khorses) play an enhancement like confusion or something, then I draw from Gates, then my opponent has a chance to Angel of the Lord or Grapes me.  And once everything is finished the battle is over.

King Manasseh
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Pale Green/Brown • Ability: 6 / 6 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: May band to a demon or magician, or you may discard 2 of your human Evil Characters to return a Hero to owner's hand.

Two Thousand Horses (Ki)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: 2 / 2 • Class: Weapon • Special Ability: Holder may interrupt the battle, draw 2 cards from the top of own draw pile, and play the next enhancement.

Gates of Jerusalem (P)
Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect evil Kings and Queens of Judah in your territory from opponents’ cards. If one blocks, its special ability cannot be negated and you may draw a card.

I believe that is how it would work, yes.

2K takes effect before King Manny.

Don't character abilities activate before weapons (except when they add a character to battle which his return ability doesn't)?

From the rules clarifications thread:

Quote
CARDS WITH MULTIPLE SPECIAL ABILITIES

When a single card has more than one special ability (including gained abilities), and an order is not specified, perform the abilities in this order:

1. First, complete all printed special abilities in the order written on the card EXCEPT those that add a character to the battle.

2. Then complete all gained abilities (gained in set-aside or on previous turn, etc.), EXCEPT those that add a character to the battle.

3. Then, complete all weapon abilities.

4. Then, complete banding abilities.

5. Last, complete choose blocker abilities.

So from that, some character abilities happen before weapons, some after.  I think the fortress ability would happen at the end.

ChristianSoldier and Kor are correct. If you choose to use his return effect, it happens before Horses. If you choose to band, it happens after Horses and the enhancement you play with Horses.

Where is this originally, and how do we get it stickied?

It actually is from a sticky on the official errata board.

I guess no one bothers to read the stickies anymore.

Gah.  I specifically read all the stickies so I wouldn't look stupid.  And I missed that one.  Carry on!
