I'm wondering where the site goes when you rescue with King Abijam. Does it go directly to play or to your hand?
King Abijam (Brown/Purple)
Sa: If you control a priest or Temple Artifact, Negate Sites. If your rescue attempt is successful, take an opponent's Site. If blocking, decrease a Hero X/X.

According to the REG, "take" abilities move cards into your hand.
Take > How to Play
"A card that is targeted by a take ability is removed from its previous location and placed in the hand of the player who used the take ability. That player now controls the card that was taken."
-
I assume that cards such as Jacob's Dream that specify a location to put the card taken override the default of taking to hand?

Hey,
"A card that is targeted by a take ability is removed from its previous location and placed in the hand of the player who used the take ability. That player now controls the card that was taken."
Why was it changed to this?

Why was it changed to this?
I would guess that it is the simplest way to deal with all the different card types.
If I "take" your card from your hand, it would naturally go into my hand.
But if I "take" your active artifact, would it become my active artifact. I don't think most people would play it that way.
If I "take" your fortress (ex. Wall of Protection) from your territory, would it have to go into my territory?
If my opponent is playing Goliath (Promo) I probably don't want that.
If I search your discard pile to "take" an enhancement, would it have to go to my discard pile?
That isn't even legal (putting opponent's cards in my discard pile) and would be useless anyway.
If I "take" your site (ex. Nazareth) from your territory, would it have to go into my territory?
If I'm planning on searching my deck a lot, I probably don't want that.
My point is that it doesn't make sense to say that to "take" an opponent's card means to put it in the same location that it came from except on your side. Therefore, it is easiest to just always put it in your hand by default (just like searching for cards), and then let you decide whether to put it down somewhere.

Unless it means to take control of the card which means it stays in the same location just on the opponents side of the field.

True, but that isn't what it means (at least not anymore). The change to the default for "take" was a change that was agreed upon by the elders previous to the new release of the REG. ProfU's reasoning is spot on.

Does the definition of take override cards like Jacob's Dream that specify where the card "taken" goes?
Jacob's Dream:
Take one Lost Soul site from an opponent and add it to your territory. If site held a Lost Soul, Lost Soul returns to general Land of Bondage. Discard any other cards in that site.

Sorry missed that one.

Sorry missed that one.
No worries. Glad to know I wasn't the only one with that question. :)
