Kind of a dumb question

Ok so I'll just use a specific example to frame my question.
I have 5 OT wc heros in territory.
Say I rescue with a one of them, am blocked by a human ec and hero has initiative, play trumpet and sword to try and win the battle and get rid of blocking ec, and 4 other human ECs in opponents territory, they play something like korahs rebellion, I play centurions proclamation to capture/convert their blocking EC. Their blocking EC is removed from battle yay. Now my question is set up.

In above scenario or in a similar situation would trumpet and sword take effect after the blocking EC is removed from battle since it was never negated, and also does trumpet and sword only get to discard the 4 human ECs in opponents territory now since the 5th targeted character is no longer there to be targeted or am I allowed to choose another human EC to discard?

Individual targets don't update, so no.  Ongoing targets (such as ignore) and area targets ("all cards in battle"), do.

In other words,

trumpet and sword still works but only hits the previous targets that are still in play. So in this case the 4 ec's in territory.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
