can I play two set asides on a person in Kerith Ravine?
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set this Fortress aside. Holder may put one O.T. human Hero in this Site to protect it from harm. Set-aside enhancements work in this Fortress
-
No. Game rule is that someone cannot be set aside with two set asides at the same time.

right, but could Kerith Revine be an exception to this rule, because set-aside enhancements work in this fortress, and it's set aside?
-
no, two set aside enhancements at a time is what sk meant.
-
I think the idea is that you can set aside a hero with your first set-aside card, and then, since set-asides work in Kerith Ravine, play another set aside card on the Hero, who is already in the set-aside area. It's not playing two set-asides simultaneously, it's playing one and then, once the Hero is in the set-aside area, playing another one while he's already there.
I'll bet it's illegal, but the reasoning does kinda make sense. ;)

Hey,
"Set-aside enhancements work in this Fortress" means that a character can be set aside and then put into Kerith Ravine without stopping the effect of the set aside card. It does not mean that set-aside enhancements can be played on a character that is in Kerith Ravine.

awwww, that's boring. it'd make the card useful.

Set-aside enhancements
A set-aside enhancement has the phrase “set a (type of character) aside” in its special ability. A set-aside enhancement can be played on a character of matching brigade in your territory during your Preparation Phase or Discard Phase. Its special ability activates even though it is played outside of battle. You may also play them in battle according to the rules of initiative. You can direct the effect of the set-aside card to any character you own and currently control. You may set aside a character with multiple set-aside cards if they are played at the same time.
...I'm confused....

Antiquated REG.
-
ok. I figured as much. Just wanted to make sure that it wasn't everyone overlooking something. ;)
...besides, i don't mind. I lost to a guy at Nats a few years back because he would set-aside a guy with Chemosh and Covenant with Death at the same time so his guy would never die and he just pegged all my heroes. ::)

The following is located in the REG under Instant Abilities -> Set-Aside -> Clarifications
• Two or more set-aside cards may not be played simultaneously unless specified otherwise.

wouldn't this be otherwise specified? also, what if you didn't do it simultaneously??? ::)
-
You can't set-aside a hero that's already set-aside. They're not in play to be targeted.
-
...unless they're in Kerith Ravine, where set-asides work. :P
Okay, not really.

"Set-aside enhancements work in this Fortress" means that a character can be set aside and then put into Kerith Ravine without stopping the effect of the set aside card. It does not mean that set-aside enhancements can be played on a character that is in Kerith Ravine.
So, does this mean that this fortress doesn't hold someone as Goshen would? But rather you can't even put a guy into the fortress without first setting him/her aside?
-
No, all it means is that someone who is set aside with an enhancement can be placed there.
-
So you can play set-aside cards on characters who are already in Kerith Ravine? That seems like the obvious interpretation of the wording.

Kerith Ravine
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Set this Fortress aside. Holder may put one O.T. human Hero in this Site to protect it from harm. Set-aside enhancements work in this Fortress.
You can put one OT human Hero in Kerith Ravine whether or not you choose to use a set-aside enhancement on that Hero. If a Hero is in KR you can play up to 1 set aside enhancement on that Hero. Once the 1 set-aside completes, you can use another one if you want.

Hey,
Play Kerith Ravine as if it said, "Set this Fortress aside. Holder may place one O.T. human Hero from territory or set-aside area in this site to protect it from harm." If you play it as if it said that you will be playing it correctly.
