Do Pithom and Given Over to Egypt (etc.) trigger if I have Joseph in play?
Pithom
Each time an opponent plays a Dominant, if you have an Egyptian in play, discard the top card of his deck or place a good card in his territory beneath deck.
Given Over to Egypt
On activation, if an Egyptian is in play, discard the top card of each opponent's deck. If any are Lost Souls, put them in play instead and discard this Curse at the end of the phase.

I don't think Joseph has the egyptian identifier, and if that's the case then no they don't trigger off Joseph. However Joseph SHOULD have an egyptian identifier.
-
inb4 arguement. Joseph is not a "Egyptain", cuz he wasnt born there. Niether is Daniel a Persian etc...
Yet, Paul is roman because he was a citizen. Some (including me) think Joseph should be an Egyptain etc...
I mean he was the Prince in the Palace. i think that in redemption there should be a looser defenition of nationality., like someone needs to be there a certain # of years to gain identifier etc...
(Come to think of it is Esther a Persian or whatever the country it was she became queen?)
Edit: Instaposted

Esther is a persian, and cannot be ignored while hamans gallows is in play.

Esther was a Persian because she was born in the Kingdom of Susa (Capital of the Empire). I'm not 100% about Mordecai, since he may have been born pre-exile, but I would think he would be too.

Well, thanks for clearing that up, but the original question still needs answering. :P

Joseph made laws in Egypt. Not sure if he is Egyptian though.
-
Joseph definitely should have the egyptian identifier in my opinion. He was the second in command of the whole country.
-
If Joseph’s brothers were not Egyptians than nether would Joseph be an Egyptian. His mother and father were not Egyptian. He was not born in Egypt. I don't think Egypt had an immigration policy back then. Just because he "walks like an Egyptian" doesn’t make him an Egyptian.

What about ruling like an Egyptian?

Just because a man is the leader of a country doesn't mean that he was born there or identifies with the culture of the land. Zing!

We should make this thread on a weekly basis.
I'll make it next week... who's got week after that?

I can get after you.

I see what you did there :)

I see what you did there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama_citizenship_conspiracy_theories) too :)

Personally I think Moses has a stronger argument for Egyptianism than Joseph.
-
Moses isn't Egyptian? Seriously? Even though he was born in Egypt and was a prince of Egypt for several years?

Personally, I prefer the air.
