Title: Joseph and Peace
Post by: Josh on June 29, 2015, 12:21:49 PM
How does Joseph work with Peace equipped?  I know that Tossing's Decrease works regardless of protection, but Joseph isn't protected from Decrease, he's protected from Discard.  Would Joseph just stay in battle, with his abilities going below 0/0, while he Tosses the EC to death?  And then he'd be discarded once he returned to territory and his ability ceased.

Joseph - Search deck for Storehouse or Goshen. Protect sons of Jacob from discard. Enhancements with “Joseph” in title or reference cannot be negated.

Peace - Place on your clay or blue Hero: When this Hero is in battle alone, toss all Enhancements played this battle. Cannot be interrupted.

good question it really does seem that he would just remain in battle at 0/0 haha same goes for green nt simeon he is protected from discard what if he was converted and has peace same thing? decreased to 0/0 and just doesn't die?

Precisely.

Actually, I heard that with decrease abilities in battle, unless the ability says "if character's /* reaches 0 or less, discard character" then the character won't be discarded until end of battle. Is this true?

No, not true.  Abilities with that last part just clarify how Discard by Decrease works as a game rule, it is not a separate ability.  All decreases discard by game rule if they take a character to */0 or less.

So Joseph dies after battle because toss decrease is permanent? Or is there something I am missing.

Toss decrease is permanent, yes.

Yes, once the battle phase was complete and Joseph's ability was no longer active, he would be discarded by game rule.

What if a Hero was protected from discard by an evil card (I can't think of any examples off the top of my head)? Is the evil character who's tossing the enhancements doing the damage or is Peace? My thinking is Peace but figured I'd check as long as we're at it.

Toss's decrease is regardless of protection or immunity.

Yes, but the protection mentioned isn't from decrease, it's from discard...

If the evil character is the source, then protection from discard by an evil card would keep the hero in battle even if his/her numbers hit */0 or lower. If peace is the source, then the protection is useless. Thus the question.

Except discard due to decrease isn't being discarded by the evil card, it is being discarded by game rule.  Only protecting yourself from the decrease by evil cards could help you, but toss is regardless of protection.

True, so I guess you should have just said that so I wouldn't have been able to be wrong in public again :p

I'm sure there are others that will follow the same line of thinking you did. Not everyone is willing to put themselves out and ask. Thanks for helping bring clarity.  :)
