Title: Joab Promo
Post by: Pastor Marcus on July 18, 2010, 10:32:56 PM
Joab can band to any red brigade hero mentioned in 1 or 2 Samuel.  Has this been changed so that it only applies to references on red brigade hero cards or can I band to heroes mentioned in those two books of the bible whose reference may be 1 chronicles (or another book) instead?

Thanks,

Marcus

This is from the REG: http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/gloss_mentionediniandiisamuel.htm (http://www.redemptionreg.com/REG/gloss_mentionediniandiisamuel.htm)
Quote
Mentioned in I and II Samuel
Selected Redemption® cards contain special abilities that refer to cards “mentioned” in a specific book or chapter of the Bible. The following cards are mentioned in this way:

It's been previously ruled that the card's reference doesn't matter to Joab, as long as they are mentioned in the Bible.

@MKC - Why not use both?  Joab can band to Abishai.  Besides, Gold Shield can result in some very interesting combos with Joab...

Wait so I have been playing the card wrong for the past  7+ years? When did that happen?

Let me get this straight. This is a lis tof who is in those books but all of those aren't the ones that Joab can band to correct?

It's very possible that the ruling was reversed, but I know it was the case 3 or 4 years ago when Bryon was talking about a playtest card Joab would be able to band to... the reprint of Caleb, perhaps?  And I wanted to try to band him to Barak before Forgotten History ruined my life, but I never got Deborah and Joab out at the same time in my old red decks.

They still have to be red brigade . . . but conversion works wonders for that if you want to go nuts.

It has always been played as it reads, and is still played that way.  :)

Yeah, Scott, I think it was Caleb we were thinking of back then. Joab to Caleb to Men of Judah to Army of Simeonites is still a decent little band.  Maybe the biggest 4-hero band with cards at face value and no enhancements.

Joab is a local tournament promo. You would have to attend a local tournament and hope that the host is offering that particular card, which is not likely. At this point, you would be better to buy or trade for one.

Talk to your local host. Either they can request that promo the next time, or they may have extras for trade. I am a host, and I have about 10 of them on hand. In fact, I have several of every local promo so my players can choose which ever they most want.

Wait a minute... You're from Australia?

If you are indeed in Australia and don't have any tournaments, you should think about hosting one yourself. Otherwise you can also get the Joab promo (or any other cards) from Three Lions Gaming. I only charge actual postage for international orders, so once you let me know what all you were interested in, I could let you know what postage would be. It looks like it would be $1.44 for one card.

Yes I am from Australia and at the local christian bookstores they only sell Starter Packs and if your lucky sometimes the '20 Year Anniversary' pack.

I don't know anyone else here that gets Redemption cards so it will be kind of hard to host a tournament.
