Can you interrupt?

Say I attack with Michael holding Angel's Sword.  You block with a character with 2KHorses.  Since Michael says that his enhancements cannot be interrupted, does 2KHorses work since it says interrupt the battle?

Michael (AW)
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Silver • Ability: 12 / 8 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: Enhancements used by Michael cannot be negated. • Identifiers: NT Male Angel • Verse: Revelation 12:7 • Availability: Angel Wars booster packs (Ultra Rare)

Angel's Sword (Ki)
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Silver • Ability: 3 / 2 • Class: Weapon • Special Ability: If blocked by a human Evil Character, Hero may play the first enhancement. • Play As: If blocked by a human Evil Character, holder may play an enhancement. • Identifiers: OT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: Numbers 22:23 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Common)

Two Thousand Horses (Ki)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Pale Green • Ability: 2 / 2 • Class: Weapon • Special Ability: Holder may interrupt the battle, draw 2 cards from the top of own draw pile, and play the next enhancement. • Play As: You may interrupt the battle, draw 2 and play an enhancement. • Identifiers: OT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: II Kings 18:23 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Common)

Play First means Play Next. So it would result in the person defending drawing two cards, and playing an enhancement. If the enhancement doesn't transfer init via removal, then the person attacking gets to play an enhancement off of Angel's Sword.

Even though Angel's Sword, which was in battle first, allows the attacker to play the first and cannot be negated?

The reason why the defender gets to play first isn't that it can't be negated, it's that play first does not mean play first. It means play next (play the first enhancement after all abilities complete). Basically, 2K Horsies must finish activating (which includes playing a card) before Angel Sword can play something. The same would go for any evil card that lets the EC play an enhancement, such as Proud Pharisee.

Angel's Sword must still follow the rules of activation order. Since it specifies a condition ("if blocked"), it must wait til all triggers related to that condition are activated in their proper order. Evil weapon-class enhancement activation is part of the order of events for blocking, so it must be allowed to finish before Angel's Sword can meet its trigger and let the rescuer play an enhancement.

Got it - I was just about to ask if it was due to the condition. Thanks!

Yeah the main reason I was wondering, is that Michael's weapon "cannot be interrupted," and 2KHorses is an interrupt ability.

To be completely clear, Horses is not actually interrupting Sword, it simply gets to insert its ability before Sword's trigger resolves and allows the rescuer to play something.

Exactly. Back when this was being debated, the example was always Mike + AS vs Rabshakeh + 2kh, as both would be CBN, so there was that "clash"

However, I brought up the example of 2kh on Assyrian Archer. It was normally accepted that banding worked before Angels Sword, but 2kh activates before the banding. Therefore, if angels sword was to play before 2kh, it would have to force insert itself before Assyrian archer's ability could even finish.

This is why "Play first" does not exist any more, as it makes people think NOTHING can play before it.
