Did the set that was just released anticipate these rule changes? I'm wondering how long the playtesters have been considering these changes, and if those ideas were incorporated in some of the more recent cards. If this was answered in the other threads already I apologize.

This hasn't been mentioned in the other threads to my knowledge. I don't think the past set was designed this way.

The past set was not designed with these changes in mind.

I'm going to assume "these rule changes" are the ones Bryon posted yesterday. The answer to that is, no, these were not being discussed during development of the last set. They have only recently come up as we look at simplifying things for the potential printing of new starter decks.
