Usually I teach players that when someone plays a "battle winner" on you, you want to interrupt the battle by either negating what they played, or interrupting it and playing a battle winner on them.  But are these the only options?  Can't I interrupt the battle, play an enhancement that does not even target the character in battle, and then I get removed?

Specifically, I have my gray Raiders' Camp deck in mind.  Say that I block my opponent's Lydia, who cannot be captured, with a larger grey character.  Lydia plays Joseph before Pharaoh to capture me and place me in my own land of bondage.  I have Naaman's chariot and horses in hand, and Raiders' Camp in territory.

Can't I play NCAH to interrupt the battle, draw 2 cards, and then play Snare on ANOTHER hero somewhere (placing them in the camp)?  Then Joseph before Pharaoh finishes, I get captured, but Lydia does not redeem a lost soul because I just hand over the hero that I just placed in Raider's Camp?

I'm pretty sure that this works with any of those "interrupt, draw and play" cards, but I just wanted to check before trying it.  Thanks!

This would work as you described.

If You gave Your life to love them so will I

It would work, but you could also capture Lydia in this situation, since her protection from capture is interrupted when you play the capture card. A situation where such a thing may be more helpful is if you block a Zerubbabel's Temple Priest (with Z's Temple in play) and he plays a battle winner. Then you could play NC&H + Snare to get a non-Z's Temple Priest and put him in RC.

When you interrupt the ability that is beating you, you can play (basically) anything you want while the ability is interrupted.  Once that interrupt ends, if you didn't get rid of that ability, it still beats you, but even if you can't save yourself, you can get off a parting shot at least.  :maul:

Great Image would be a fun "parting shot" I think :)

Interesting thought I just had.  If I had Unholy Writ active, could I use it on Lydia while her ability is being interrupted?

No. All abilities must complete, so if you played NC&H you have to draw 2 and play next before anything else (dominants, artifacts, Fortress abilities) can happen. Once you draw two and play next, assuming nothing else negated Lydia's ability or removed her from battle, she goes back to being protected from UW.
