I didn't find in the REG what nationalities you can choose from so my question is can you choose any nationality like American?

In the game I choose kings to be Judean. Is that a valid choice?

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

That list actually is in the current REG - it's the first Glossary entry under N.  It's just mistitled as Negative Effect.

So does this mean I cannot choose Midianite (Jethro), Phoenician (King Hiram) Salemite (Melchizedek) or Massan (King Lemuel)? What about Eastern (The Magi)? Ok, I won't argue the last one, but I think those other guys would feel lonely if they weren't included...

I don't know about Midianite or Massan, but Phoenician and probably Salemite would be under Canaanite.

I know the current ruling is nationality has to be from a certain list, but I can't think of any reason why. Is there any actual possible interaction that messes something up if I make him the king of Gondor? It doesn't do anything positive because there are currently no cards that interact with kings of Gondor but it doesn't harm anything either.

In other card games there are cards that let you name a card, card type, or whatever else and they always let you name literally anything.

By the logic of Phoenician being Canaanite, Philistine would have to be Canaanite. I'd like that, actually.

If I'm remembering correctly Philistines weren't originally native to Canaan, they came from across the Mediterranean Sea, so it could be argued that they were distinct from the Canaanites.

There excellent reason to believe the Philistines and the Phoenicians are different dialectical names for the same people group. Depending on how far back you go, every people group is native to the land now a part of Egypt, the whole thing immediately relocated to Israel, then and moved all elsewhere. Later everyone is native to Turkey, then Canaan before they dispersed from there so it all depends on where in history you draw the line!

Interesting. I'll have to look that up sometime, the Phoenicians are one of my favorite ancient civilizations.

According to Wikipedia Saint Patrick was a Romano-British missionary to Ireland.

Are Kings of the Earth all brigades and nationalities while in a deck or reserve, but like certain dual icon cards, have only the chosen characteristics while in play?

At face value (while in deck, hand, reserve, discard pile) it’s a king, royalty, any of the 7 evil brigades, evil card, evil character, NT card, Revelation card, but it has no specific nationality.

Just to clarify, KotE is also all evil brigades at face value. I think Watchmen was just pointing out that it's any of the brigades for specific targeting purposes (i.e. "search for a crimson card") but it does count for all 7 for cards like Hannah that count evil brigades in your hand.
