What's our definition of "as a result of this battle?".

Let's say I block a large FBTN-B chain, so I'm pretty much set on initiative with my blocking Naaman. I play bearing bad news, then Strange Fire, discarding another EC in territory. Does the affect of Strange Fire interact correctly with the "as a result of battle" clause to trigger the protect clause?

Red was always playable :)

sounds like a 3 for 1 in this scenerio. He spends 1 card for your 3 cards gaining a block. O.k. really a 2 and a half to 1 but really if they are spending more cards than you then eventually it will be in your favor which doesnt sound good. What a more like Deluge of Rain?
This is the way Lackey gave it to me. All hail the power of Lackey!

RTS,
Let's just say this isn't the actual scenario, but it answers what I need for some T2 ideas... but that belongs in another discussion.
