Midwives is blocked by Gomer & Philistine Garrison.  Midwives passes, can I then play a black enhancement or because Garrison is immune can I only play brown on Gomer?

Gomer is not Immune to Midwives, though...but now that you mention it that probably is the correct ruling and we played it wrong.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Correct. Unlike ignored/ignoring characters, immuned/immune characters still contribute numbers against the immune/immuned character. If Garrison said, "character ignores/repels lone heroes" then Gomer would die at the end of the battle, since she is not immune/ignoring.

If that were the case wouldn't Midwives be kicked out of battle anyway?

No. Ignored characters are not kicked out of battle, they just can have no effect on any ignoring characters. They can still play enhancements and affect anything that is not ignoring them. Which is why post-block ignore can be effective, but it can also be dangerous, as the last guy who ignored my pale green EC found out the hard way (I played Confusion to get SoG, then Death of Unrighteous to shuffle my souls).

To clairfy this, a pre-block ignore keeps your character from entering battle, but doesn't force your character already in battle out of battle.
