Ok, another question: Pithom

Hey, what are forums for?

Pithom trashes the top card of your opponent's deck whenever they play a dominant. On virtually every card that can discard the top card of your opponent's deck, there is a little protection clause: If it's a Lost Soul, play it instead. Are we just supposed to assume that Pithom follows this rule, or is there just the incredibly unfortunate possibility to accidentally mill a Lost Soul?

If a discard does not specify it can discard a lost soul

That's unfortunate.

Thanks, Drrek.

I don't remember them off the top of my head, but I know that there are cards that bring Lost Soul cards out of the discard pile. If you are using an Egyptian defense, you may want to see if one of these cards fits in your deck.

There was discussion at one point of adding "put lost souls in play instead" to all cards, which I am aggressively opposed to. There have been cards designed from 10 Anniversary onward to not only "fix" the problem of discarded souls, but actually take advantage of the situation.

Examples:

Are you blocking? Have you discarded one of his lost souls with Egyptian Horsemen or old school Evil Spawn? Try one of these out!

Wicked Community (Gold EE - Priests)
Search one player's discard pile for all Lost Souls and place them in owner's territory. Cannot be negated.

Begging to Go Back (Gold 2/4 EE - G/H Starter)
Discard the top two cards of opponent's draw pile. Then select any card except a dominant card in that opponent's discard pile and return it to the top of that draw pile.

It's your turn, your opponent has no souls in play. Last turn, he played AotL causing your Pithom to discard a soul. Rescue with...

Zalmon (Red 8/6 Hero - RoA)
Search opponent's discard pile for a Lost Soul and place it into his territory to discard an evil weapon

The Thankful Leper (Gold 1/10 - RoA)
Search opponent's disacrd pile for all Lost Souls and put into his territory. Abilities on good gold brigade cards cannot be negated if opponent has less than ten cards in deck.

Red was always playable :)
