We are in-tournament, and it has not happened (but will, I'm sure).
What is the current ruling on what FBTN (like Captain of the Host) negates when it hits battle?
We cannot search and find the ruling.

I assume that he negates all special abilities except banding and if you're using the Kings version it negates all non-weapon class special abilities except banding. I believe it negates instant abilities and ongoing abilities as long as they're still in battle and can be negated/interrupted/prevented.
EDIT: Quote from REG:
Abilities that are worded “negate all special abilities” are actually a combination of a negate and a prevent ability, even if the ability includes an exception or is limited to all special abilities of a certain type. However, this is not true if “currently in battle” is in the ability. Play this as “negate all [specified set of abilities] in play and prevent all [specified set of abilities] for remainder of battle.”

Koala is correct. All special abilities, except banding, on characters and enhancements are negated for the duration of the battle.

Yes, all Characters and Enhancements in play (except Characters with a while in play that were activated beforehand abilities and banding)
