In-game question

Hero attacks and blocked by lone EC
Hero has initiative and plays a banding card that brings in 2 heroes (all same brigade)
EC plays an "ITB and discard a Hero" card to discard the original Hero

Would that undo the banding (since the hero the banding card was played on is no longer in battle)?

The way I read it is as:

One Hero plays a band, and brings in two more, making it three Heroes.

The Evil Character has initiative, and plays an interrupt, which my understanding undoes the last card played, as long as it is not CBN or CBI.

So the interrupt makes it one Hero again, then that Hero is discarded and there are no more Heroes to play the enhancement in battle (since they are back where they were before the interrupt).

So I think it undoes the banding, but I don't know much.   :)  Just trying to help!

I would say yes. When the battle is interrupted, the Heroes are temporarily kicked out, and so the enhancement can't activate on anyone but the original hero. Since he is discarded, the banding enhancement can't activate.

What if one of the two other characters that were banded in had special abilities though? wouldn't the interrupt default to them since they're abilities were activated more recently then the banding?

Itb always interrupts an opponent's last enhancement unless it is CBI. It also interrupts any ongoing abilities on characters and enhancements, but won't necessarily interrupt character abilities if they aren't either ongoing or removing your characters.

In this scenario the character abilities were not relevant, but that is good to point out.

Doesn't matter. Cards either do or do not have CBN when played.

So if one of the newly banded heroes did have that SA, then the ITB wouldn't work, so it does matter that you allow the SA's on characters to complete before you do what the ITB states...

I thought that I saw an Elder quote contradicting this...  As in, suppose a Red hero plays David's Triumph, still has initiative, and then plays Battle Cry to bring in Uriah to battle - at this point David's Triumph cannot be negated because Uriah says "Discard abilities cannot be negated".

Polarius is right. Cards either have CBN negated status when they are played or they don't. They cannot gain it after they have been activated.
