Imitate LS copying Awake LS?

Since the Awake lost soul only takes effect if its drawn except by your special ability how does that interact with the imitate lost soul which by its ability is supposed to be treated as a copy of another NT lost soul as though it was just drawn? I'm not sure if imitates ability qualifies the copy being treated as drawn by your special ability or not I guess.

Great question! My understanding is that you did not use a draw ability so it will trigger the "awake" special ability.

I agree with this.

Ok. It's still a bit confusing cause imitate seems to have a special ability that considers a card drawn without actually drawing it. Which would seem to still stop the Awake ability (doesn't specify a draw ability has to be used to "draw it") since an ability was used to consider it drawn.

On the other hand I feel that the portion of imitate that tells you to consider the copy as though it were just drawn is more of clarifying text for the copy ability than another special ability so it ultimately should work.

As a side question would imitates copy ability add to the # of cards drawn for the turn? I assume no since you aren't actually drawing it, but if is being considered drawn is it just for the sake of how to enact the copy (how I think it works), or does it actually consider you to have drawn another card that turn?

I didn't play test, but when I read this card for the first time I took it to mean: "act like you just drew it at your beginning of your turn 3 cards."  So that would mean you can trigger "Awake" as that is where it always triggers, and also wouldn't count towards cards being drawn because lost souls never count towards that.

Im pretty sure that one way or another this card works with awake despite my confusion. My second question seems silly now that I look at it again. I'm way over thinking this card. Haha thanks everyone for the explanations and input.

I guess if you are having problems with this lost soul, the best way to think of it is as follows.  Pick which lost soul you want to copy, obviously it has to be in play.  Then mentally (if you need to physically, do it) put that lost soul on top of your deck.  Then when you draw it complete its ability.

I'm good on it now. Mostly it was the treat as drawn thing. Viewing it as clarifying text vice another ability in my eyes just makes it alot clearer in the Awake situation. I'm not really sure there is any other situation where that would apply but yeah. Thanks for the help.

I also played it as if it wasn't drawn by special ability but simply drawn, thus Awake's ability works. Btw, a sweet play I've discovered is to use Beast from the Sea (when it triggers) to top deck the Awake soul, and on your turn to draw cards you can use the Awake's ability to pull out a soul from your opponent's deck. If Beast triggers, you can keep doing this so long as Awake is still in play, isn't negated, etc, and pull out whatever of your opponent's soul each of your turns. I also did it with Lawless a couple of times.
