Ignore = Repel?

Can a Repel ability be targeted as an Ignore ability, and vice versa?

Example...
Player 1 makes a Rescue Attempt with Bartholomew (Nathaniel)
Player 2 Blocks with Scribe
It is Player 2's initiative, so he plays False Prophesy.

... what happens?
Does the ability activate, since it's a Repel ability and not an ignore ability, or does Scribe negate it, since Repel is a form of ignore?

Bartholomew (Nathaniel) (Ap)
Type: Hero Char. • Brigade: Blue • Ability: 10 / 10 • Class: None • Special Ability: None • Identifiers: NT Male Human, Disciple • Verse: Luke 6:13-16

Scribe (Di)
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Black/Gray • Ability: 2 / 4 • Class: None • Special Ability: Search discard pile for an O.T. Enhancement and place it beneath deck. Negate ignore abilities. May band to a Pharisee or Sadducee. • Identifiers: Generic NT Male Human • Verse: Luke 20:46

False Prophesy (Pr)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Gray • Ability: 3 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: Evil Character repels any non-Prophet. • Play As: Evil Character ignores one non-Prophet. • Identifiers: OT, False Religious Practice • Verse: Jeremiah 5:31

EDIT: changed the hero so that my scenario works. xP

False Prophecy would be negated in this case by Bartholomew, since he negates SA's with "False" in the title.

In the 10th Anniversary rulebook, it says that Repel is the same as Ignore.

True. Interesting choice for your example.

From the REG:

Quote
Ignore
Ignore is a special ability that protects a card from being defeated, harmed, or affected by the ignored card. It also prevents the card with ignore from harming or affecting the ignored card. An ignore card stops an ignored character from entering the Field of Battle. An ignore ability can be a successful blocking or rescuing card. Ignore is the same as “has no effect” and repel.

Thus Scribe would negate False Prophecy even if Bart didn't.

.. that's what I get for not thinking my scenarios through all the way and just picking a random hero. Changed it to the old no SA version.

So then you /can/ target Repel abilities as Ignore abilities, then. ... sweet B-D

Since Bartholomew no longer negates False Prophecy, the negating comes from Scribe, as the Prof said.

Using this, I would say yes.

Hey,

A Repel ability is an Ignore ability.  The only case when the two are treated differently is if a card refers to the word "ignore" or "repel" being in the special ability.

If a Hero uses an ignore SA to ignore the EC's in battle does that "repel" them out of battle? or does the EC still have an oppurtunity to play enhancments to do other things, like discard cards for a deck, search or play orther enhancements?

No. The Evil Character has infinite initiative in this case, and the rescue attempt is successful when the EC is done playing enhancements.
