from the REG

"Ignore is a special ability that protects a card from being defeated, harmed, or affected by the ignored card. It also prevents the card with ignore from harming or affecting the ignored card. An ignore card stops an ignored character from entering the Field of Battle. An ignore ability can be a successful blocking or rescuing card. Ignore is the same as “has no effect” and repel."

Basically, if you ignore something, they can't hurt you (without negating the ignore), and you win the battle without discarding the opposing character if they are ignored at the end of the battle.  Numbers don't matter in ignore.

so wait. if ignore is the same as repel, if I play a card that ignores a certain brigade, does that mean they are returned to territory without being able to play anything?

Ignore/repel is not (currently) a "kick out of battle" ability, it effectively makes the ignoring character "walk around" opposing characters that are being ignored. Neither is hurt by the other, and the ignoring character is winning the battle.

Yes, as long as there are no other characters in battle that are not being ignored.
