Title: I am Holy + Chamber

I thought I saw something in recent times that led me to believe discarding an angel from hand with Chamber out would not work. Can someone confirm or deny this?

From what I remember it would not work because Chamber of Angels doesn't target angels out of play and it's going right from your hand (out of play) to your discard pile so IaH would work but chamber wouldn't. That's just what I remeber.

I believe Chamber insteads the discard of the angel from hand, and I am Holy does not work because the discard never happened.

Chamber works.  It was ruled that chamber insteads angels discarded from deck via Gates of Hell, so it can instead angels' discards even if the angel wasn't in play

Drrek is correct. Abilities with "instead" don't care where the card comes from or what happens to it when the instead effect applies, so cards discarded from hand or deck can be insteaded. So discarding an Angel from hand makes it go to Chamber. Since it goes to Chamber, it was never actually discarded, thus IaH cannot trigger.

Here's the easiest way to remember it:

You can instead the effect , but not the cost.

I need to make sure this is the case if anyone knows any examples where this formula doesnt fit.

ex:
IaH/Chamber
Cov. w Eden/SSS

You can instead a Cost, but then the Effect doesn't work.

Yea, it makes all Removals Discards instead.
