Mulligan?

Hey, everyone:

A friend of mine (who used to play Magic: The Gathering) was wondering if you can mulligan in Redemption?

For those unfamiliar with what a mulligan is, it is derived from golf. A mulligan is basically a "do-over" (you re-take your shot). In Magic: The Gathering, you can choose to take a mulligan if you draw no lands (or no manna) to begin your turn. You shuffle your hand back into your deck, but you draw one less card when you re-draw your hand.

My guess would be that no mulligan is allowed. To me, the only reason I can see even wanting to consider a mulligan is if you draw a Lost Soul and no evil characters to defend it, should your opponent make a rescue attempt. But he wants to know if he can mulligan if he doesn't like his opening hand.

No, this tactic is never used in Redemption, although it would be very fun to adopt.

It was discussed a long time ago, and decided that Redemption was fine without mulligans.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

This was discussed about this time last year, but most people thought that there were better options, like the "intro-prep" phase and the "2nd player draws 3" rule.

What's the "intro-prep" phase?

What's the "intro-prep" phase?
Basically, just that each player gets to do whatever they would like to do during a prep phase after the initial draw 8 and before the first turn.  This could include putting down a fortress, activating an artifact, putting a LS in a site, putting a character in territory and putting a WC enh on them.

Wow. So you mean that whomever goes first, during their preparation phase both players can play cards to their territory?

No, it means both players set up their territory before the first turn begins.  Although since there's no draw on the first turn and the player is not likely to do anything on his real first prep phase, there's not much difference between the two ideas.

Keep in mind that these are just ideas, and none of these have been implemented yet.

Keep in mind that these are just [really terriffic] ideas, and none of these have been implemented yet [but we're really hoping they will be in the next rulebook].
Fixed :)

Awesome.

But wait, I thought the "second player draws three" rule has already been implemented. I could swear those were the rules at last year's Regionals.

It should have been implemented three years ago, but so far it officially has yet to be.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
