Can someone please explain how household idols works with the new rules?

1.  If you attack with a banding hero out of hand

a) Can an ignored hero rescue a soul if the hero is not blocked?
b) If blocked can the ignored hero use cards that effect the evil characters as the hero is being ignored by HHI not the evil characters?

A) Is the hero's ability cbp or cbn? If not, then your hero can rescue, but cannot band.
B) HHI ignore is functionally only the 3rd portion. All it can do is try to keep heroes out of battle, once they are in battle HHI's ignore does nothing to them.

Not quite.  The 4th aspect is still in play, treating characters as if they are not in battle for Battle Resolution.  So they cannot rescue on their own.

Can a Daniel played from hand and banded to Michael rescue a Lost Soul in a green site if HHI is active?

I thought that HHI was a protect ability. I dont see how it would be changed with the new ruling.

They can band if they are CBN/CBP so long as they don't try to bring in another banding hero.

Unless the other banding hero is on their hand, of course.
