My hero wins the RA and the evil character is discarded activating Hormah's ability. That soul that is in Hormah cannot be chosen as the one I won from the RA correct?

Correct. If the battle is determined to be over by the numbers with a win for the Hero, the EC is discarded. That triggers Hormah before the next event (rescuing the Lost Soul) can happen, so if it happens that the LS in Hormah is the only one available for the rescuing Hero(es), then the rescue attempt fails.

I used to use it... But I needed more room in my deck.
