Nazareth/Mayhem/hur

Situation 1
I have Nazareth(Protect cards in your territory and hand from shuffle by an opponent. Protect all decks from search abilities.) in play, opponent plays Mayhem(If it is not the first round of the game, each player must shuffle hand into deck to draw six).

Do I get to keep the cards in my hand AND draw six?

Situation 2
I have Nazareth in play, opponent attacks with Hur (Selected opponent must shuffle all but one card from hand back into draw pile and draw seven new cards. Cannot be interrupted, negated, or prevented.), do I keep all the cards in my hand AND draw 7!?

Question 3
If so, why does everyone still play with mayhem? Seems it would be wasted if your opponent has Nazareth.

Situation 1, you do not shuffle, but you also do not draw. This is a conditional ability - you have to shuffle in order "to" draw.

Situation 2, yes you get to keep your hand and draw seven, since this ability is not conditional (it says "and" instead of "to").

Question 3, Nazareth was made as a counter to cards like Mayhem. I'm sure most people who play Mayhem would avoid playing it when Nazareth is active (if they are paying attention). There are plenty of ways to get rid of sites.  ;)

Thanks for the response, I feel like an idiot asking all these questions, but there are soooo many new cards since I last played a game of Redemption.

Never feel like an idiot for asking how cards work. That's what this section of the board is for. :)

If so, why does everyone still play with mayhem? Seems it would be wasted if your opponent has Nazareth.

1.  Mayhem is almost always overpowered when played.  It even acts as a LS generator.
2.  In order for Nazareth to stop Mayhem, it needs to be drawn and played first.  This happens less than 50% of the time, if you factor in that not all players use Nazareth in their decks.
3.  Nazareth doesn't make Mayhem a dead draw.  Mayhem still works for the person who plays it.  You can use it to draw up to 6 cards.
4.  50 card aggro decks with 7 Doms are designed to pack so much punch in the early game that it overwhelms the opposing defense.  Mayhem is the perfect card to take these decks over the top.  There is about a 20% chance you draw Mayhem in your original D8 and your first D3.  That's 1 in every 5 games.

4. The statistic is actually closer to 26.2% using a 50 card deck with a Hopper lost soul.

Situation 1, you do not shuffle, but you also do not draw. This is a conditional ability - you have to shuffle your entire hand in order "to" draw.

Situation 2, yes you get to keep your hand and draw seven up to the hand maximum cap, since this ability is not conditional (it says "and" instead of "to").
