ruling question on jarius' daughter

ok here's the rundown; I went to a friend of mine's house and introduced him to redemption, he enjoyed playing and thought it was fun but he did something very interesting that I neither knew it was legal or knew it was possible but we played the G/H starters and he played the H deck while I played the G deck, so anyway, long story short; he discarded jairus' daughter from his hand but I wasn't sure if he could do this for her ability but her ability reads "when this card is about to be discarded, she then gains 2/2 and returns to territory" now is this a legal play or does she just remain in the discard pile? bare in mind, my friend is a player in MTG and so being a magic player, it would just be instinct to tell him to discard that card for her ability but I didn't know so is this move legal or not?

No, since she never entered battle her ability is not active so discarding her from hand will not trigger the 2/2 increase.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

that could be something rob can use for new cards; abilities triggering upon entering the field or trigger by discarding from the hand much like Yugioh and MTG both do and redemption should be no different :)

So he has on one of these.  The new set "The Early Church" has introduced some territory class characters that activate once they hit the field.  So one of your wishes has already been granted!  :)

Could you do this with the Women's version of Jairus Daughter because she heals herself?

Heal enhancements can be played (in a sense) to discard pile to heal a hero or EC who discarded that turn.  The character would not heal itself because the ability never activated sense the (wo) version never entered battle either.

This was the problem many people had with Luke (Ap) as well.
Just one more thing...
