Is that a "do as much as you can" sort of thing? For example, if one of the AoG enhancements is removed from the discard pile before the heal happens (say it's removed from the game or returned to deck) would it get returned to play from that other location or would it stay put and the character would come back with one less enhancement?

I don't believe that it can, because it is not negating or undoing any effects that would have removed those cards from the discard pile, and they would not be there to be returned. I'd like to get confirmation from other Judges on that.
