When can I heal?
i.e.
Immediatly when captured?
While captured?
Immediatly when removed from game?
etc.

Healing only works with discard and poison/diseases, you cannot heal a capture, set aside, convert, remove from the game, return to hand, or shuffle ability. If you have a heal enhancement in your hand at the time you can heal immediately when the character is discarded (though the battle is still over if they were discarded from there), otherwise you can heal them anytime after that during the same turn. Poisons/diseases can be healed anytime after they are put on a character.

as a followup, i read this in another thread...can you heal discard from set-aside? for instance, if my heroes are discarded from set-aside from say a darius' decree, can i use a healing card (brass serpent, i am healing, herods temple, etc.) to heal them?

In general, yes, you can heal from set-aside. With Darius' Decree though, you can't play a healing enhancement until the phase after DD is discarded (unless an EC is in battle). So if your opponent uses DD during his discard phase, you're out of luck (unless you have I am Healing active).

will herods temple work to instead a discard by dd?

I would say yes. I know if Job is discarded from Set Aside he goes back to D&A, and I think HT is similarly worded.
