Has the rule for Ignore changed?

Hello All,

Sorry for not being the board for too long, but during a tournament, a participant notified me that the rule for Ignore have changed, so I am just to clarified.

This is just an example.

From what I was taught.

If I come in with a Hero ignores black brigade, my opponent cannot block with any black brigade.

From what I was told.

If I come in with a hero ignore black brigade, my opponent cannot block with a black character on the field, but he can block it from his/her hand.

My question is that did the rule changed? Or, just a misunderstanding? Thank you.

Yes, there was a change. An ignore ability cannot target a character that is in hand. In your example, the opponent could block with a Black EC from hand. However, the character would then be ignored as soon as it entered battle.

In addition, a character that was protected in territory (say a King of Judah protected by Gates of Jerusalem) could also block because the ignore could not target it in territory, but would be ignored upon entering battle.

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

There is another very important distinction.

With the old rule, "Cannot be ignored" was treated the same as "Cannot be negated":  Ignore abilities simply couldn't touch something that had "Cannot be ignored" status, period.

With the new rule, "Cannot be ignored" is treated the same as "Protected from ignore abilities":  Ignore abilities can still ignore anything that didn't have "Cannot be ignored" status BEFORE the Ignore started.

This is important, because it effectively neuters Golgotha as a potential Ignore counter.  As I've been saying (and as we'll certainly find out this tournament season, thanks to the new Joseph), the new Ignore rules make it easier to get an evil character into battle against an Ignoring hero, but they actually make it harder to successfully block an Ignoring hero.  And CBN Ignores are basically impossible to block now.

Thank you for the clarification, but may I ask is that in the REG? Because I read it, I couldn't find anything about that. Thanks.

Here is the most recent version of the REG, and here is the thread with links explaining the changes that were made after Nationals 2015.  Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions on the changes or current rulesets.
