Great Faith + Five Smooth Stones? (Purple Brigade)

It was my initiative, and I played Great Faith which lets me search my deck with another good enhancement in my deck, I search for Five Smooth Stone which interrupts and prevents the last enhancement played. Does that effect Great Faith, or the enhancement played before?

Posting the abilities helps everyone out.

Five Smooth Stones
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 3 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: The effect of the last enhancement card played in current battle is interrupted and prevented. • Identifiers: OT, Depicts a Weapon, Connected with David • Verse: I Samuel 17:40 • Availability: Warriors booster packs (Rare)

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: 3 / 2 • Class: None • Special Ability: Negate the last evil enhancement played in current battle. • Identifiers: OT, Depicts a Weapon, Connected with David • Verse: I Samuel 17:40 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Rare)

Depends on which version you are using. I'm guessing you are using the Warriors version in your scenario.

Here is what the REG says: Instant Abilities > Interrupt or Negate Last > Special Conditions
Placing a card in the discard pile removes it from play, but does not remove the ability to negate it by (1) interrupting the battle or (2) interrupting the last enhancement played in battle. However, a "negate last enhancement" negates the last enhancement regardless of its current state (in play, discard pile, converted to a character, etc.).

Great Faith
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Holder may search own draw pile and exchange this card with another enhancement card, then shuffle. • Play As: Exchange this enhancement with another good enhancement in your draw pile (you may place in hand or in battle). Shuffle draw pile after exchange. Identifiers: NT, Spiritual Gift • Verse: Matthew 15:28 • Availability: Women booster packs (Uncommon)

Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: None • Class: none • Special Ability: Exchange this enhancement with another good enhancement in your draw pile (you may place in hand or in battle). Shuffle draw pile after exchange. • Identifiers: NT, Spiritual Gift • Verse: Matthew 15:28 • Availability: H Deck

It appears the Warriors version of Five Smooth Stones would target and negate Great Faith in your draw pile. There are others out there with a better understanding, but that is how I would rule it.

Godspeed,
Mike

I think that FSS would negate Great Faith.

You have two options. One is to put FSS in your hand rather than directly into battle. The Women's Great Faith has a "Play As" that matches it to the reprinted H-deck version:

Play As: Exchange this enhancement with another good enhancement in your draw pile (you may place in hand or in battle). Shuffle draw pile after exchange.

The second option is to use the King's version of FSS which only negates an evil enhancement.

The Warriors version should get a Play As to make it line up with the other version.  The good enhancement was obviously not designed to negate another good enhancement.

Yeah,  I realize there's a better FSS out there.

If I put FSS in my hand, and the exchanger is already in my deck, then the enhancement before that is the one targeted, right? Thanks ;D

Now I have a question.  He said he "had initiative", but doesn't it depend on HOW someone has intitiative in order to do this?  Can cards like Great Faith, Moses and the Elders, etc, allow you to play them at the moment you are losing by removal?  I thought I had to have a negate in hand to avoid being removed from the battle, and that I don't have "time" to play one card to then get a negate card from draw or discard pile and then play it.  But then again we could be playing it wrong.

Please advise.  Thanks.

I had initiative because I was dying and opponent played an Egyptian card that discarded my JT.

Yes, you don't have time, if you have inish by removal, to play GF to search for a negate.  GF doesn't interrupt the battle so by trying to play it on a guy that has been previously removed, you are basically trying to play an enhan on a character who's not there.  You'd have to interrupt the battle first (ie Reach of Desperation) then play GF.

Shouldn't I be able to play Great Faith if I was dying by numbers? Or else what point is there to be having Great Faith in your deck?

If you're only losing by numbers (which seems to have been the case), then you can certainly play Great Faith, grab the Kings Five Smooth Stones, and negate the discard of your Fortress.

yeah, if you're losing my numbers you can.  I was saying you can't grab a negate with GF if you're losing by removal because you have to interrupt the removal first.

Yeah, you'd have to interrupt/negate the removal first.
