Post by: RTSmaniac on January 19, 2010, 10:30:59 PM
Great Faith
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Purple • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Holder may search own draw pile and exchange this card with another enhancement card, then shuffle. • Play As: Exchange this enhancement with another good enhancement in your draw pile (you may place in hand or in battle). Shuffle draw pile after exchange. Identifiers: NT, Spiritual Gift • Verse: Matthew 15:28 • Availability: Women booster packs (Uncommon)

Please tell me there is something wrong with this play as.

Well, heroes can't play evil enhancements, so exchanging it with one of those wouldn't make sense.

Hey,

There is something wrong with the play as.  Similar to what happened with Battle Prayer, the additional condition (the requirement for the card to be good) that was added to the reprint somehow got into the play as for the original.  Great Faith (the women's version) can still get an evil enhancement.

But doesn't that break the game rule that says enhancements can only be played on a character of matching alignment?

Hey,

If you chose an evil enhancement you would have to exchange it into hand.

Personally, I don't think that's really exchanging, because the location changes, but whatever, that's what the stinkin' card says.

So the errata got put into the remake of them but they changed the play as on the originals?

Where in the REG/rules does it say that you can exchange to hand? Exchange by very definition means the 2 things being exchanged swap exact places.

The section of the new REG specifically allows for "exchange" to place in hand.

I think that's really dumb. In that case, it isn't really an exchange ability; it's a search and shuffle ability, like Consider the Lilies.

It's an exchange between "in play" and "deck". Where you put it is your decision.

FTR, I agree with you BB.

But if you "decide" to put it in hand, then it isn't an "exchange" between "in play" and "deck," because your hand is involved.

P.S. There should totally be a three-way exchange card.

But your hand is not "in play" so it shouldn't be an appropriate target location to add the "exchanged" card.

Surprise!
X Brigade Good/Evil Enhancement
You may play an enhancement. It activates after this card resolves. Search your deck or discard pile for a [good/evil] enhancement and add it to hand. Shuffle this card into that pile.
