Goshen Promo

Was there ever an official announcement about the new Goshen promo?  Does it do what it says or what it was intended to do?

In other words, because the ability says how cards are added to the Fortress, my understanding is that cards cannot be added to it at will during the prep phase like the previous version of Goshen.  Only Genesis and Exodus Heroes can go to Goshen and only when their toughness reaches */0 or less.

Pretty please can it work like intended or is this another Split Altar?

Goshen
Type: Fortress • Brigade: Multicolor • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Protect contents from all effects.  If your Genesis or Exodus Hero has toughness */0 or less, you may play it here instead of discarding it. • Identifiers: Holds any number of Heroes of up to three brigades • Verse: Exodus 9:26

Now that you mention it, I think we played it "wrong" (but probably as intended). We played you could add/remove heroes as per the old Goshen, but that Gen/Ex heroes got "special treatment" if being discarded. But that really isn't "as written," is it?

I don't see how this could not be errata'd. This card will never be used as-is. You can't get your Gen/Ex heroes out as it stands.

You can get your Gen/Ex heroes out according to the current wording.  There are hundreds of cards that "will never be used as-is" but none of them will receive errata because they are weak cards.

Hey,

The same way you get a character out of Stronghold in the Desert of Judge's Seat.

So Basically this card is worthless.  You Can't add hero's like the old goshen, only if they drop below */0 and are genesis and exodus can they even get in.  I am assuming that you can evacuate as many as you would like during prep phase(like Judge's seat, Stronghold in the desert, etc.).

Yeah, that'll go good with my blue Genesis deck.  ;)

Is there an unwritten rule that states fortresses that "hold" cards can also release them?  Does that affect the demon and angel fortresses?

it doesn't say you can't add heros of any book of the bible. It says that if your gen/exd heros are */0 you can put them there instead of discarding them

and Son of God doesn't say that you can grab all the lost souls in the room from deck and in play.
but it doesn't say you can. thus, you can't.

I'm not sure why this is still being discussed, as it was ruled on in the earlier thread (already posted above):

If a fort says it holds cards, then the default is that they can be added or removed during the prep phase only.  If another timing/method of released is given, then that replaces the default.

Goshen heroes can be added or removed as you wish during the prep phase.  It is very nice in a deck with Genesis or Exodus heroes, and fairly useful still in decks where you need to protect your heroes.

Apparently, when we added the extra way to let the heroes enter, we should have clarified that they can enter the default way, too.  That was a good catch on your part.

So, Goshen DOES need errata/clarifiaction: You can put your heroes in Goshen during your prep phase.

I never re-read the thread. You are indeed correct. Hopefully the REG will be updated to indicate the clarification. Thanks sk!  ;D

I have a clarification question about this. If your Gen/Ex hero is added due to the */0 condition, are they "reset" to full, as in you can remove them during your next prep phase and they'll be basically healed and default full numbers again?

That appears to be the intention but I'm not exactly sure how that works based on the wording.

Dang, if only I had known this during the last game I played. I was in a 3-player multiplayer game, and I had no heroes left. In addition, I had lost Son of God and Chariots of Fire (among other cards) due to that place enhancement that makes you discard a card each draw (or is it prep) phase. If I had known this, I could have had Goshen in my deck and possibly drawn it to save some of my heroes.

No, but the Genesis offense has cards that pull Genesis or OT cards from your deck.
