I don't see why he couldn't retain both. He was in the Bible, and nothing in the rules say otherwise.

Only the printed numbers are affected by name-on-name, not increases or decreases via special abilities.

In the case of cards with ability increases in the special ability, if there would be a name-on-name bonus, you either choose to use the NoN bonus OR the special ability increase, not both.
