On Goliath's Armor and Goliath's Spear, it say that he may "retain them as a weapon".
Can he hold both at the same time, or hold more than one?
-
One at a time.
-
I don't see why he couldn't retain both. He was in the Bible, and nothing in the rules say otherwise.

I agree, in reality someone could have armor, a spear, and a shield. I don't see why he shouldn't be able to hold his namesakes.
-
Does that mean my Huge Egyptian can both be on a horse and holding a spear?

I don't see why not, as long as he's on a Clydesdale.

The one weapon per character rule is found in the REG entry on WC characters, not WC enhancements. So Goliath can hold both, but Huge Egyptian can't.
Warrior Class Characters
This is a special kind of character marked by a shield icon below its icon box. A warrior-class character may hold one weapon-class enhancement outside of battle.
-
Hmm. Interesting concept, I was under the impression that Goliath was Warrior Class.
-
One of them is. So the old one can hold both, but the new one can only hold one. I think I'm reading that correctly. :)
-
Abilities override game rules, generally, so strictly speaking if you played Armor on WC Goliath during battle (or in territory via High Places), he'd be able to keep it due to Armor's place ability. Then, he could also hold an actual weapon via his WC status (like Spear, or something else). Armor just says hold, it doesn't say "as a weapon" like Spear, so I think this works.
-
Technically, armor isn't usually a weapon.

A warrior could still wear it!
-
I would say he holds one by Warrior Class rules, and one by Identifier rules.
(assuming you are using the new Goliath)
-
Whichever actually.
And in T2 could he hold two of the same weapon?
Goliath's Armor + Goliath's Armor + Goliath's Spear + Goliath's Spear?

Four Goliath's Spear! Little did we know, Goliath looks a lot like this guy:

Dats pretty nice.
8/10 x2 x4 + 0/5 x2 x4 + 10/10 = 74/130 + Foolish Advice = Wyn.
Then convert.
WOOT!

Gather him to TSA.
But your math is a bit wrong. it wouldn't be 8/10 x2 x4. No name on name for special abilities.

wut? I always played it doubled the worth ability.

Only the printed numbers are affected by name-on-name, not increases or decreases via special abilities.

So WC Goliath only becomes 18/20 even with NoN bonus?

He becomes 18/20, yes. No NoN.
-
In the case of cards with ability increases in the special ability, if there would be a name-on-name bonus, you either choose to use the NoN bonus OR the special ability increase, not both.

Gotcha. Used to play he was 26/30, banded to Saph, Ishbib (w/ spear) and Lahmi (w/ spear). Major numbers FTW.
-
Oh well. Now he is only 66/120.
This is an awesome idea can we move this to combos or something?
-
Question: Can you put all the spears on him in territory, or after the first one, does it have to be in battle?
-
I assume the Spears in battle and the Armor in territory.
Armor has it as an Identifier, but Spear has it as an ability.

Goliath's Spear needs a reprint. >:D

What's this one gonna be called? You're running out of African countries to name them after.
-
COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO is the only combo that is named after African countries. Also, COMBO COMBO COMBO COMBO AFRICA was not an African country.
Plus, this isn't a "combo." Just uber amounts of fun...
Except...Foolish Advice will negate the ability to retain. LAME.
-
what if it was retained in a previous phase?
-
I just say we errata it to the retain being an identifier.

+1 to both.
-
what if it was retained in a previous phase?
Then it might be CBN, but you aren't going to get inish to play it...
-
what if it was retained in a previous phase?
I would assume since Goliath's Spear reactivates that it would be negated and discarded at battle resolution. Goliath's Armor, however, would not be because you can not negate an identifier...yet...
