I was thinking about Goliath Promo and I was wondering something
I have Goliath with Philistine Chariot and Horses on him. Due to the order special abilities activate, if my opponent attacks with a hero (that isn't a giant slayer or protected from return abilities), then I block with Goliath whose ability activates and returns a hero, but since abilities that add characters happen last, I am allowed to play an enhancement before the new hero enters battle, right?
Goliath (P)
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 10 / 10 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: Return all Heroes in battle to territory (except giant-slayers). Opponent may present a new Hero. Negate all band, draw, and play abilities. Cannot be negated.
Philistine Chariot and Horses (TP)
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 2 / 2 • Class: Weapon • Special Ability: Interrupt the battle and draw two cards. If used by a Philistine, may play an Enhancement.

Negate all...draw, and play abilities
;)

Fair enough. Lets say you could make it CBN (although I'm not sure if it is possible at the moment), then would that work?

I can't currently think of a way to make that work, but yes, I suppose so

If you could make it CBN (Asherah Pole might work, but I think at the point it activates, no OT Hero is in battle) then I would say yes, you could play an enhancement before your opponent presented a new Hero.

The way I see it, the abilities go as follows:
Goliath returns the Hero. Then the opponent adding is put on hold until all other abilities complete. Goliath's negate ability completes. Then, assuming it is somehow CBN, PC&H activates, Goliath's owner draws two, and plays an enhancement. The enhancement completes. Then the opponent can add a new Hero, and the battle continues as normal.

What is the reason you feel that the ability on Goliath doesn't happen in the order it's written? I expect the ability to complete in the order on the card.
1) Return all Heroes in battle to territory (except giant-slayers).
2) Opponent may present a new Hero.
3) Negate all band, draw, and play abilities.
I'm not aware of any reason that the opponent presenting a new Hero would be "put on hold". It would have been cleaner if we put #3 first, then #1, then #2 but it still works about the same.

Just based on the fact that abilities that add characters to battle always come last. Right?

I agree with Prof A - Goliath has a two part 'Withdraw' and 'Add to battle' ability - The second of which must wait to complete until everything else has.
-
Otherwise, what happens if my opponent puts a character with a CBI drawing/banding ability before the negate kicks in? That would be a bit odd.
-
Yep, you're correct. I forgot that all add to battle abilities happen later. I was only thinking of banding abilities.
