Goliath (P)
Type: Evil Char. • Brigade: Black • Ability: 10 / 10 • Class: Warrior • Special Ability: Return all Heroes in battle to territory (except giant-slayers). Opponent may present a new Hero. Negate all band, draw, and play abilities. Cannot be negated. • Identifiers: OT Male Giant (Human), Philistia • Verse: I Samuel 17:44 • Availability: Promotional cards (2010 Regional Tournament)
This card won't even be available until next spring, but I already have a question. If you have giant-slayers in battle, and you withdraw all other heroes, can you still present a new hero? As worded, it almost seems to allow you to present a new hero as soon as Goliath enters battle no matter what, but I assume that will get a play as. I would think if you withdraw at least one hero, you can put in a new (single) hero, even if other heroes are left in battle.
-
In Withdraw > Clarifications, it states:
“Opponent must present a new blocker or rescue is successful” is only true if no blockers remain in battle.
I assume the same applies for Goliath.
-
Can you still present a new non-giant-slayer to block, or are everyone but giant-slayers protected from entering the FoB regardless?
-
Heres my question, say I have Armor Bearer banded to David. I'm blocked by Goliath.... what happens?

David stays in battle, Armor Bearer goes away, you can't add another character to battle.
-
Except Goliath also negates banding... thats why I asked.

No

His knockback activates first.

So nobody except Giant-slayers can enter the FoB when Goliath is presented as a Taunt?
-

No. Goliath's withdraw ability is instantaneous. It is not an ignore ability. So if you attack with a non-Giant-slayer and I force him to withdraw with Goliath, you can present any other Hero, regardless of Giant-slaying status.
Otherwise, Goliath would be in every deck ever, and Red would probably become the most popular offensive brigade.

That's what I asked, and Smokey said no, but I wasn't for sure what to. Sides, Elder>Smokey (no offense to him).

Except that Red is terrible and has few battle winners. Unless you can get CBN status on HUGE banding chains.

We had the same answer, I just didn't explain it.
Red is > NT blue.

Have you seen the new Red cards? I should play you with my Red offense sometime, if you play online.
Also, Ram's Horn + Naharai + Freedom!/Jael's Nail/Power of the Cross/Baggage/Centurion's Proclamation/David's Triumph is nasty.

Yeah, red is absolutely terrible with....
Two NT heroes that negate EC SAs, and access all sites.
Two CtB heroes.
TONS of banding.
Two Deck Discarders.
Spy to peek at peoples cards.
Buckler, Battle Cry, The Battle is the Lord's, Davids Mighty Men, David's Triumph, Centurions Proclamation, Freedom, Jails nail, Trumpet and Sword, A Soldiers Prayer, Power of the Cross, United Army, Walking on Water (lulzy on Peter), Baggage, Council of Abigail, Holy Ground...
:P

Red goes good with Teal Tomb with Peter, Trumpet and Sword, Jephthah, and Four Drachma Coin :-*

Trumpet and sword with no WC characters FTW.
-
Yeah, because a TGT deck needs the Territory destruction part of Trumpet and Sword to be successful...

TGT decks are still sucessful?
-
Not as much.

But red doesn't have speed, which is why it is lame, and that's the sad fact. You can have all the battle winners you want, but without a draw 3 + play next ability or any other practical cards that draws cards, it won't be uber competitive as a main brigade.

Just because I didn't list some WC characters doesn't mean that you shouldn't include any. The reason I didn't list any is because there aren't any staple ones that one should include in that deck type (with the exception of Phineas)

I CHALLENGE YOU TO A CHILDREN'S CARD GAME.

Chloe says hi.

haha sounds good. Although keep in mind there's a good chance you're using a combo deck, and winning because of your famous defenses. If you win because you're offense is strong (and it's solid red), then you've got me convinced.

Get on hamachi. :P

I have not. My reasoning is that I have never been beaten by a Red offense because so few people play it (IMO). The reason few people play it is because it isn't as good as other brigades (IMO).
Plus, my interwebz is slow and I have no idea where to get all the RTS stuff, much less how it works.
