(KI) Captain of the Host's Special Ability

He says "Negate all non weapon-class special abilities except banding."

Would this mean that Warrior-Class special abilites would be negated? And if that is the case, why is he not negating himself?

Mayeb this just looks confusing to me. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks, Weston.

He does negate warrior class abilities.

And as for your second question, he doesn't negate his own ability because abilities don't negate themselves by default (this is sort of why banding in a negate all character kicks the negate all character out, but the negate all stays in, as in the case of Jacob banding to The Strong Angel)

To further clarify, Captain negates everything except banding, weapons, himself, and things that cannot be negated.

Was Captain ever officially errata'd to say that it's only in battle that he negates?

Just to quote the erratas quickly:

Captain of the Host (Warriors) - Negate all special abilities on Characters and Enhancements (except banding and Captain’s special abilities).

Captain of the Host (Kings) - Negate all special abilities on Characters and Enhancements (except banding, weapons, and Captain’s special abilities).

Since they say all (unlike some other FBTN cards), are they still negating all C + E in play?  Or is FBTN being defined with the new REG in such a way that all FBTN ability targets default to the field of battle?

The warriors version does but not the kings version.

Any FBTN card that doesn't specify battle targets all characters and enhancements in play. Including placed enhancements, etc.

Exactly 0 FBTN cards specify that they target battle.  Only half say "Battle is determined by the numbers" or something similar (13 of the 24 or so cards/variations).  That is the only part of the ability that can even mention the word "battle" and the rest (11 or so) do not have that word at all.  Does this mean that all FBTN cards target all C + E in play, or those that don't say "Battle is determined by the numbers"?  If the latter, how does that actually affect the targeting?  Or are we just treating all FBTN the same in terms of targeting?

I guess I shouldn't have used the term FBTN, but rather just I/P/N, because there are some cards that simply I/P/N enhancements in battle only (like Devourer (Ki) or Burning Bush). I wasn't completely sure if there were any FBTN cards that specified battle. All true FBTN cards should be interpreted exactly like this: Negate (non-warrior class, if applicable) characters and (non-weapon class, if applicable) enhancements. The negate targets all C/E abilities in play.
