Christ's Triumph and End the battle.

I rescue with a Hero. My opponent blocks, has initiative and plays Heavy Taxes on an Emperor causing a stalemate and ending the battle phase. Am I allowed to use Christ's Triumph during my discard phase to begin a new battle?

In other words is Christ's Triumph a one time trigger that happens instantly when my Hero fails the rescue or an ongoing ability I can choose to use any time after my Hero fails a rescue? If it's the former, does it trigger during battle resolution after an end the battle card is played, allowing me to begin a new battle phase?

Quote from: Christ's Triumph
Place on your N.T. human Hero: If your N.T. human Hero fails a rescue attempt, you may discard this card to begin a new rescue attempt with this Hero.

You can't fail a rescue until Battle Resolution has begun, when nothing can be played or activated, anyway.

Since we have that precedent, this card must trigger upon the completion of Battle Resolution to allow a one-time check to discard and start a new battle (in a new Battle Phase, as happens with all new battles).

So yes, you should be able to use this after an ETB ability is used; it would not work at all if it did not work in that instance, is how I would see the scenario playing out.

I agree that this card would trigger at the end of the Battle Resolution phase.

However the problem, is that you can't play TC-enh after that until it is Discard phase.  And at that point, I would say that the trigger moment is already past.  Therefore if this card was not already down before battle ended, then it would not trigger.  Otherwise, we would be going from discard phase back in time to battle phase again, which I don't think should happen.

I agree with your logic, Dayne.

Mark, I see that my original question was not clear that Christ's Triumph was already placed on my Hero in the example given. I agree that it could not be placed during the discard phase and then used.

Does it trigger in battle resolution or discard phase? If it triggers in battle resolution does it activate in discard or battle resolution?

If I understand correctly, I believe it creates a creates a moment in between battle resolution and discard phase that says "Hey, if you want, you can do X to go back and start a new battle phase instead of proceeding to discard phase."

Have you checked the REG?
Have you looked it up in ORCID?

that's really awesome since even if it was negated in the battle you can use it afterwards to start a new one.

i know there is some kind of broken combo chain with this card but i have yet to play it out lol i can just imagine this thing recurring like a dozen times in one turn i really wonder what the max amount of times you can recur it in one turn is and how many battles you could wind up with in one turn

Convert 2 generic  N.T warrior class evil characters to blue after you play horses on them. Ra play obedience of noah choose immunity ec. Play something nasty--> stillness--> triumph into a new battle--> Use second hero  then obedience then nasty then jubilee to get christs triumph play it then another jubilee to get stillness play it--> triumph into new battle lather rinse repeat. The nasty card that works with this is the new job enhancement that lets you clear their hand and territory of evil. After that you can add a side battle to your combo and  play besieging the city. Every turn thereafter you use a rescue to play another besieging the city then walk in on your second using Christ's Triumph.  You can do this much easier if you substitute the long day for Christ's Triumph but it works with Christ's Triumph as well.

Which 2 generic NT WC ECs are you going to play horses on that will allow you to play an enhancement?

That's a good point I forgot NCaH only let's you play if a unique character is holding it. Um I guess you can't use Christ Triumph with the loop then.

Well if you have 2 Jubilees then you can put two 2kHorses in and convert them over with Ahimelech.
Just one more thing...

This is my understanding of the situation, and a better way to say it.
