"shame" lost soul

I don't have the card in front of me, but it says something like you may set aside a hero from each territory for two turns.  Until today I assumed that this was "all or nothing", meaning that if I did that it would mean I'd have to do this for EVERY TERRITORY that has a hero in it, including my own.  Today a fellow player said that it does not affect your own heroes.  Which is correct?  Thanks.

Each territory is optional.  Check out this thread for further details.

Either your link is in error or my computer hates me.

I would like to see this thread, since I have already been ruling that you must set-aside from your own. I thought it was intended to be a cost and effect idea.

That thread does not seem to have ended with decisiveness.

I agree with what Prof Underwood was saying. This ability is not a series of options following a "may." There is one action: set aside a hero from each territory. Although I do not disagree with the "up to" principle, that would only apply if there was no hero in a territory. If I have a hero in my own territory, then I must set it aside if I choose to activate the "may."

That's my take anyway.

Bryon gave us an official ruling.  How is that not conclusive?

There were about ten relevant posts after Bryon's post, none of which he responded to. I don't see that as very conclusive. Bryon has changed his mind about rulings (after lengthy discussions were presented) in the past, so why does that seem so out of the realm of possiblity here?

Just because some people disagree with a ruling doesn't make it wrong. :P

Grammar rules applied correctly can give two correct meanings to "You may set aside one hero from each territory"

1) From each territory, you may set aside a hero.  In other words: (You may set aside a hero) from each territory.

OR

2) You may (set aside a hero from each territory).

To make things simple in Redemption, every time you see the word "may," we always use the interpretation with the most options.

May for each part/target.

If that is the case then this lost soul probably just became one of my "magnificent seven".  It's value only seems to be diminished if it is one of the lost souls in your opening hand.  Thanks for the clarification.

Now that's what I was looking for.   ;D
