Enhancement Targeting.

Could someone explain this for me please?

I'll provide a few scenario's -

Scenario 1 -
Jake + Seraphim + Claudia + ET - I play Abe's Servant
My opponent plays CM on one of the blue hero's, does Abe's stay in battle?

Scenario 2 -
Seraphim + Jake + Cheribum + ET - I play Spiritual Warfare,
Do I choose a specific angel that I am playing it on or is it just kind of 'played' and I choose an angel that gains the ability? If my opponent CM's my Angel does the ability transfer to the other with the enhancement?

Scenario 3 -
Lying Spirit is banded to Naaman
I play Momentum change on Naaman, then a few capture enhancements.
My opponent play AoTL on Naaman, Does Momentum change send the enhancements back to my hand or do they transfer to Lying Spirit so that Momentum change can't target them?

Abraham’s Servant to Ur
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Blue • Ability: 2 / 3 • Class: None • Special Ability: All special abilities except banding on characters and enhancements, except this one, are negated. Battle is determined by the numbers. • Identifiers: None • Verse: Genesis 24:9-10 • Availability: Patriarchs booster packs (Rare)

Spiritual Warfare
Type: Hero Enh. • Brigade: Silver/Green • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Hero ignores all human Evil Characters. • Identifiers: NT, Depicts a Weapon • Verse: Ephesians 6:12 • Availability: Angel Wars booster packs (Rare)

Momentum Change
Type: Evil Enh. • Brigade: Grey • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Return all Evil Enhancements except this one to holder's hand if Evil Character loses in battle. • Play As: Return all Evil Enhancements in this battle that were used by this Evil Character except this one to holder's hand if Evil Character loses in battle. • Identifiers: None • Verse: II Samuel 19:1-2 • Availability: Kings booster packs (Common)

Follow up -

What does the 'used by this character' in MC mean? Does that mean that when I play an enhancement I target a character to use it? so that when I play Twice afflicted on two banded characters one a demon one not it gets 'played' on a the demon? Same with all the cards that say 'if used by (INSERT CIV HERE)' do they just get played into a side or are they played onto a specific character?

1. Yes
2. Whoever it is played on, and it does not transfer
3. The Evil Character has not yet lost in battle, but if the rest of the blockers lose, the Enhancements will come back. If the rest of the blockers win, the Enhancements go away.

Enhancements are always played on specific characters.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

So say in Scenario 3 - Lying Spirit is banded to Naaman.

If I play all my enhancements on Naaman, and then they use AoTL on Naaman, does that mean all the numbers go away too, even though both of my evil characters are gray?

The enhancements stay in battle (and provide their numbers etc.) because there is still an EC in battle of matching brigade.

Logic/Soure?

To me that seems contradictory to past rulings, heres a few:

When Potiphar's Wife discards a Male hero in battle then dies to the other hero in battle, the Male hero is still captured (I tried to find the ruling on this but it was purged) This is so because even though she lost the battle she defeated the one character.

With First strike abilities you can have the evil side win and still have evil characters who lost the battle

Quote
Ongoing Abilities > First Strike > How to Play

Only the character with first strike ability benefits in the battle where it is played; it does not extend to other characters (e.g., Band).

Also Redemption has always been played that an evil character can lose the battle but still defeat the rescue attempt
(I.E. King Pekahiah + Bearing Bad News)

Functionally Naaman loses the battle - Regardless of whether or not the evil side eventually wins Naaman lost, he was discarded. so shouldn't MC activate? because its not hinged on the side but rather on the character.

Thats how I've always understood it to work, I'd hate to learn that I'm wrong now.

Thanks,

RDT

Hey,

As Pol said enhancements are always played on a specific character.

"Used by" means played on.

The ruling about Momentum Change not returning enhancements until the end of battle even if the character dies before the end of battle originated at nationals 2004.  I believe Justin Alstad was the one that was trying to return enhancements to hand mid-battle (and I presume replay them in the same battle).

RDT, I think you are confusing "defeat" with "loses."  Defeat happens when a character is on the losing side of battle when the battle ends or when a character is removed from battle prior to the end of battle.  Losing a battle only happens at battle resolution.

Also the quote about First Strike is slightly misleading.  Only the strength of the character with first strike is used when determining if the first strike makes a difference on the battle, but if it does, it allows all character on that side of battle to survive, not just the ones with first strike.

 ???

That seems to completely contradict the REG quote, which does not qualify as "misleading." How do you "benefit" from a First Strike ability except by surviving?

That is true. And I got to hear him complain about it all the way back to Minnesota from New Orleans...

Also, I agree with YMT about the First Strike. The way I would interpret the REG quote is that the strengths of all the heroes add up to get to the First Strike scenario, but only the heroes with FS survive.

I.E.:

Tribal Elder and Ehud (13/9) vs. Goliath(10/10). No enhancements played. Tribal Elder and Goliath are discarded; Ehud survives and gets the soul.

Tribal Elder
6/5, band to an OT Hero

Ehud
7/4, ...Hero has first strike

Goliath
10/10, no SA

This makes more sense to me.

So If I play a Battle winner, then it gets interupted and the character removed, does the enhancement reactivate on the other character of same brigade in battle?
