Could someone explain the basic ideas about site guarding,...i.e. how it works, what characters are used, how RA takes place at that site. Thanks!

are you talking about the site guard ls?
When some hero has access to the site the ec is on, then you are able to add it to battle...

I guess what I'm wondering is....what evil characters can guard a site; when you make a RA at a guarded site, is the guarding EC the only EC in battle, and why would there be a character guarding it anyway, since you can block with EC's in your territory?

There are cards that are put on sites that help the ec in battle but the beauty of having an ec site guarding and in battle is that if your ec in battle is discarded you can add it to battle and continue or add it while another ec is in battle

Technical summary:
There are certain cards that let you place and evil character on a site, if an opponent attempts to rescue the lost soul on that site then you get to do what ever the card that placed a character on the site says to.

Actual summary:
Don't worry about it, there are only three or four cards that place evil characters on sites and none of them ever get used so you (probably) never see it happen
An unanswered question is infinitely better than an unquestioned answer.

Actually the Site Guard LS gets used with fair regularity. There is no one catch-all rule for how blocking from a guarded site works. It depends on the SA of the card that placed it there.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!
