Title: Gates of Hell
Post by: Mageduckey on May 05, 2013, 06:22:45 PM
I'm certain the answer to this question is "no", but figured I'd ask anyway because it did come up (more as a joke than anything else):  Can Gates of Hell choose your blocker?  After you start your rescue attempt but before your opponent blocks, can you discard Gates to add your demon to the battle as their character?  Since it says "add your demon", I believe the "your" implies I remain in control of it (and can't be rescuing with a demon, so it wouldn't do anything if I discarded Gates then), but figured it was worth asking.

The Gates of Hell: At any time, you may discard the bottom card of deck. If it is an orange demon or a Lost Soul, place it in your territory instead. You may discard this card to add your demon to the battle.

No, sadly you may not. You cannot add your character to the opposing side of the battle unless it's choose the blocker or something like that. Same reason you can't use Unknown Nation to add your EC to the battle to their side of the battle.

Agree, the only way to add a character to a battle that doesn't involve you is The Darkness because of the wording.  I can't remember any other examples.
