Garden Tomb?

Does Garden Tomb work for all players?  I remember somebody suggesting to have a couple GT Heroes in your deck even if you don't have GT to kind of give the opponent a taste of their own medicine.  Somebody I played with today didn't think that was true.  What is the correct answer?

Yep, TGT is not unique to the holder.  That's a major reason I put John in my purple splashes.

What is it about the wording that makes this possible?  How do I explain this to other people?

Not entirely. It only works for you and your "opponent." So in multi, it only works for you or someone attacking you. If player A had GT, and player B attacks player C, GT doesn't work for them.  :)

EDIT: To answer you question, it's if your "opponent" has a soul. So, in my scenario, your "opponent" doesn't have a soul cause you're not in battle. Does that help?

TGT states that X heroes ignore everyone, regardless the owner.  The best way to explain it is that it does not state "holder's X heroes ignore."

Interesting I never thought of that.  Probably because I don't play any multi. ;)

+1 TGT doesnt grant a player anything, it just grants those specific characters the ability to ignore.

Right.  But, it only grants those 6 heroes the ignore ability IF the current opponent has at least one redeemed soul.

So, if player A has TGT, and player B has a lost soul, then while player B is in battle against player A, the 6 heroes ignore.  It does not matter who is attacking whom, as long as those 2 players are both in the battle.

To expand on what Bryon is saying:

Type: Fortress • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: If opponent has a redeemed Lost Soul, then Salome, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Peter, John, and Mary the mother of James ignore all evil brigades that do not have at least two Characters in play. • Attributes: Empty!

TGT has two checks.  Bob and John are playing.  Bob has TGT in his territory.  TGT checks to see if John has rescued a lost soul.  If John has made a rescue, then any character in play with the names listed on the card are granted an ignore ability, regardless of which player is the holder of said character.  If it were to say some thing like "...then (six character names) that holder controls ignore all evil brigades..." then it would only work for Bob, and not for John.  In the case of TGT, it works for both players, and only checks to see if Bob's opponent, John, has rescued to be active.
The most profound thing I have learned in gaming, if you are not losing, your opponent isn't winning

Is Bryon contradicting what the Ninja said? That is what it seems, but I may be reading it wrong.

The question: If Player A has TGT in a multiplayer game, and Player B attacks Player C with John, would John ignore (assuming the LS issue applied).

No.  Your Garden Tomb only works if you are in a battle (attacking or defending).  If you are not in a battle, then you have no current "opponent" to check for a soul.

I couldn't tell either and that part always confuses me.  Thanks for asking.  :)
