Title: Fruit of the Spirit - on-going abilities even when discarded?
Post by: Watchman on March 20, 2019, 01:10:31 PM
If I rescue with a clay hero with some of the FotS on him, and my opponent blocks with Coliseum Lion and discards all of the Fruit on him, are those protection and other abilities from the Fruit still active/on-going, or are they only active while they remain placed on the hero?

They're all conditional to only function while they remain placed.

Thanks. And while on the FotS topic, there’s one the wording of which always confused me.

Gentleness: ...protect N.T. humans from discard abilities and negate play abilities.

Are NT humans protected from negate play abilities (which doesn’t make much sense), or is it negating play abilities (like how Ezekiel’s ability is; separate from the protection ability)? It’s the “and” conjunction that’s confusing me.

Update: I just read the play-as in the ORCID. There’s a comma after “abilities.” So it’s just negating play abilities.

It's negating playing play abilities (like Ezekiel).

Some of the current group of Elder proofreaders do not believe in the Oxford comma while others do.  ;D

The better way to have worded this would have been:

While that Hero is in battle, negate play abilities, and protect N.T. Humans from discard abilities.
