Four-Drachma Coin

Scenario:  I have Four-Drachma Coin active, my opponent has Rain Becomes Dust active.  I have Peter in my territory.  Can I discard FDC to draw 4 and not have my cards discarded by RBD?  Or is there an "in-between deck and hand" stage that drawn cards can be in where they wouldn't be protected?

Four-Drachma Coin - "Protect the cards in your hand and deck from discard abilities on opponents' cards. At any time, if Peter is in play, you may discard this card to draw 4."

Rain Becomes Dust - "All cards that an opponent draws because of a special ability used by that opponent are revealed instead.  Place all revealed Lost Souls in opponent’s territory.  Discard the rest."

Yes because 4D Coin's effect hasn't been negated and it doesn't say "while this card is in play"
An unanswered question is infinitely better than an unquestioned answer.

I would say the following happens:

Top 4 cards of your deck are revealed.
Lost Souls are put into play
Rest go back in the same order.

I disagree. Protect has always overruled anything else except interrupts, even CBN. 4DC's effect isn't being negated or interrupted so the ability lasts until the end of the phase (the protection does, at least). As such, the cards drawn with its own effect would still be protected and would be drawn normally rather than being revealed and discarded (or anything else). I can maybe see a case where the drawn cards are still revealed (as 4DC doesn't protect from cards being revealed, just discarded), but I think the cards would still get added to your hand.

I believe hes are correct. $4 protects from Discard, but RBD has two abilities, so using $4 with RBD up will net you a Discarded $4, any revealed LS's in your LoB, and the other cards back on top of your deck.
I am not talking about T2 unless I am explicitly talking about T2. Also Mayhem is fine now somehow!

Minister Pol is correct.  The cards are revealed and not discarded.  Non LSs are returned to the deck.

and the other cards back on top of your deck.
This part makes no sense. There's nothing negating the draw effect, and since they're protected from discard logic would say that, after they've been halted and revealed, they would continue on their path to your hand since nothing is standing in their way.

Minister Pol is correct.  The cards are revealed and not discarded.  Non LSs are returned to the deck.
But....why?

The draw effect was instead-ed to reveal and discard.  The discard is protected, so we go with the default for after a reveal: return the revealed cards to where they are revealed from.

OK, the grammar for that sentence was horrible, but you get the idea?

I get the idea. I completely disagree with the logic behind it (which seems to be the case quite frequently), but I get the idea.
