I know that this was probably answered somewhere along the line, but I couldn't find it if it was. If both the hero and the EC have first strike, does it average out? Or does the person who played it first/last get it?

Whichever character gained first strike first gets the benefit, the other character's doesn't work.

No, it works (as in it was not negated) its just that the character is dead before it can strike first...second

You know what they say, second place is the first loser!
