FBTN ls vs Anti-Burial ls

does the anti-burial ls still work if the fbtn ls is in play?

Galatians 3_13 (AW)
Type: Lost Soul • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: While this card is in a Land of Redemption, all cards in that player's Land of Bondage are protected from Burial. • Play As: While this card is in a Land of Redemption, protect all cards in that player's Land of Bondage from Burial.

Luke 19_10 (Di)
Type: Lost Soul • Brigade: None • Ability: None • Class: None • Special Ability: Beginning in the phase after this card is put in play, negate all special abilities on Lost Soul cards (except this one).

If the FbtN LS was out first, yes.

*EDIT* Misread question. That answer was for FbtN Soul v. CBP Soul. If Anti-Burial was rescued while a FbtN LS had been out for at least one phase, it does not work. If Anti-Burial soul is rescued on the phase the FbtN LS came out, it works. If Anti-Burial LS was rescued before FbtN LS came out, it works. FbtN Negates LS's, not Redeemed Souls.

Because it's SA was being Negated when it was rescued. I'm not sure what the rule on LS's is, but I'm pretty sure they only activate in LoB and not LoR (otherwise, all the other LS's would continue to activate in LoR). It may get a special ruling a-la Prince of the Air, but I would argue that the "while in LoR" wording doesn't allow it to activate in LoR unlike other LS's, but that if it is rescued while the ability is active, it tells you what to do.

i would say the precedent would be all other cards' special abilities that dont specify location default to play. this is why other lost souls do not work while in lor, and maybe why anti-burial activates in lor rather than in play because of its wording.

Targets defaulting to play has nothing to do with this. The question is if LS's activate in LoR (no) and if Anti-Burial gets special ruling because of its wording (maybe).

sounds like a triggered ability based on game state. It may trigger when it hits LoR, but I think it still has to activate in order to be able to trigger. I would rule the ability is prevented from activating, therefore not allowing the triggered ability to take place.

question: if a card allowed you to take a LS from your deck and put it in your LoR, and you chose this card- would it still work?

I would say that the anit burial works because when the ability is triggered is when it's rescued and the fbtn ls only targets in play so it should work.

Once a Lost Soul is rescued, it becomes a redeemed soul. Would that mean that the Anti-Burial LS ability triggers when it becomes a redeemed soul (since it triggers "while in a LoR"), and thus it isn't an "ability on a LS card" but an ability on a redeemed soul card? (Dang, that sounds like a T2 player talking.)

I agree with Polarius. The Anti-Burial soul's ability can only be triggered when rescued if the trigger is set. While it is in play, it's SA is negated. When it leaves play and ceases to be a target of the FBTN soul, it has already been rescued, and the time for the trigger has past.

I disagree on the timing of the trigger. The card does not say "When this card is placed in a LoR..." which would imply that the trigger takes place before it goes to the LoB. It says "While this card is in a LoR..." which would put the trigger AFTER it has been placed in the LoR. Since the LoR is out of play, the effect of the FBTN LS doesn't work there.

I'm OK with whatever the PTB say, but I think this is a more accurate timing, and doesn't require either making an exception for the FBTN LS or the unsatisfying and weird situation in which a SA that doesn't take effect while the card is in play is somehow prevented from working when the card is out of play, where the ability should trigger.

But it is better to fail in originality than succeed in imitation since imitation is suicide.
